Vijaykumar Krishnan Palghat is presently a Full Professor (with tenure) at the Northern Illinois University United States with extensive leadership experience of 36 years including Corporate India (19 Years) and academics (17 Years).
Vijaykumar Krishnan Palghat earned his Ph.D. at the University of Cincinnati. He has a B. Tech from the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi and a P.G.D.M. (M.B.A.) from the Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta and brings a rich industry experience into the classroom.
Vijay joined the Tata Steel group in 1990 in the marketing department, progressed successfully through several functions over the years in senior roles in marketing and business, and brings in a rich real world experience into the classroom. Some of his prior roles include –Deputy General Manager of Marketing, Shaw Wallace, India; Account Director, J. Walter Thompson, India; and General Manager Marketing, Usha Martin Telekom Ltd, India. Most recently, he was a Business Head with Bennett & Coleman Company, publishers of the leading daily, The Times of India.
With many teaching awards, Vijay teaches the multiple courses in the business management area at both graduate and undergraduate levels at Northern Illinois University.
Vijay’s primary research Interests are primarily in the brand identity area, particularly on sound-based identities for a brand - sonic branding, brand equity, and brand management. He has published over 20 articles in reputed business journal with over 1400 citations on Google Scholar. He was invited at the Goa institute of Management under their Distinguished Professors Program.
Vijay is a professional level Indian classical violinist, and he has performed in over two hundred concerts in India and the United States.
